• Romantic & Cozy Villa

Welcome to our hidden gem of a hill-town home in Civita di Bagnoregio. It offers a spectacular perch on the very edge of this ancient hilltop village, looking directly down the cliff side toward the bridge with stunning views of the valley below. This is a special place for those who want to experience the serenity of a hill-town as it might have been hundreds of years ago. It is a quiet place, perfect for rest, renewal, contemplation, and recovery from the stresses of modern life.

The house is perfect for a couple- or up to 6 guests in the 3 bedrooms. The first floor consists of a spacious living room with a fireplace, a private library, dining room, and well equipped kitchen. There is easy access from the kitchen and dining room to the lovely, private terrace with panoramic views of the valley and the famous bridge. The terrace is a special outdoor room that provides maximum privacy just off the sometimes busy Civita alleys. It is the heart of the house and a wonderful spot to sit, read, sip or nap. There is a built-in grille and day-bed on the terrace. A pellet stove in the dining room provides perfect heat for the 1st and 2nd floor. The 2nd floor consists of the master bedroom with a queen bed and bathroom with shower. There are 2 more bedrooms on the 3rd floor- one with a queen bed and another with twin beds.

  • Location

The town of Civita is a unique marvel of preservation and quiet, accessible only on foot by bridge. Rick Steves claims that Civita is his favorite Italian hill-town. Located mid-way between Rome and Florence it is easily reached by car or train to the nearby town of Orvieto. Drive through Bagnoregio towards Civita and park under the bridge- or in the parking lot above. Our local manager will meet you at the bridge and welcome you with the keys to our house. Be prepared for the 10 minute vigorous walk up the pedestrian only bridge and through the town portal into the quiet serenity of a town with no cars. Our house is 2 minutes rom the portal on a quiet side alley. Walking down the narrow, quiet streets feels as if you have walked back through time. Listen to the sound of the swallows swoop by the windows.

Civita is located in the center of Italy, close to Tuscany and Umbria. Day trips by car or train are possible to Rome, Florence, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, and the Tuscan hill towns. Nearby are the baths at Saturnia, Lake Bolsena, and the medieval hill town of Orvieto with the gorgeous Duomo; wonderful restaurants, and lovely local crafts to purchase. Our house is located on the home page on the left of the town portal, directly above the “S” in “Spectacular”. The last photo in the Gallery features our house and the terrace at the bottom of the image. And, we are located next door to "Domus Civita", a large, beautiful and luxurious rental that caters to weddings and other parties. www.domuscivita.com
